Interview with Gov. Sarah Palin

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has the highest approval rating of any governor in the United States — in the high 80s. Alaskans like to say she’s the prettiest governor in the United States, but she’s definitely done her share of work on fishing boats. I had a chance to sit down with her this week for a one-on-one interview from her offices in Anchorage. It’s amazing that any Republican elected state official would have such a high approval rating given the negative sentiment towards our president and other Republicans for their fierce and uncompromising support of the war in Iraq.

Here at the Pandemic Flu Leadership Summit, we tackled some substantial issues such as the wisdom of communicating H5N1 preparation vs. an any-pandemic prep vs. an all-hazards prep. Each approach has merit. We all recognize that were it not for H5N1 and its virulence and threat, this HHS summit and blog would not exist.

A staff member here at the Library pointed me to this article in The New York Times about a revamped test immigrants must pass before they may become citizens.

The article talks about the pros and cons of both the old test and the new. The aim, according to the story, was to get away from “trivia” and to elicit more substantive answers.
